We will leave Marrakech at 08:30 towards the coastal city of Essaouira. An old Portuguese town that surprises with its blue-shuttered house architecture and guns pointed out at sea.
You will stop at the port of the city which was built in the 18th century and called Timbuktu as it served to connect Africa to Europe and America. It is a place animated by fish vendors after the return of their fishing boats to the port.
You will then visit the Skala. Founded for purely military purposes, this site preserved the city from attack with a collection of bronze cannons aimed constantly at the ocean.
You will continue your walk by exploring the Portuguese ramparts and crossing the narrow streets of the medina. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Essaouira Medina is an example of a walled city from the end of the 18th century. Its souks display all sorts of locally made handicrafts: carpets, woolen clothes, aromatic products, jewelery, wooden decorations.
After lunch at one of the restaurants in the city, enjoy a stroll on the beach while observing the surf professionals training.
